Flight of Ideas
Materials: Iron Nails, Brass, Stainless Steel, G.I. Sheets
Dimensions: Variable
In Flight of Ideas, three figures stand—awkward, lifeless, and seemingly collapsing under their own weight. Constructed from iron nails, their bodies suggest a kind of fragility or decay. Yet from their backs extend wings of brass, stainless steel, and G.I. sheets—materials more refined, enduring, and luminous than the forms they uphold.
This series explores the tension between physical decline and conceptual persistence. The figures may falter, but the ideas—embodied in their wings—persist, elevate, and carry them beyond themselves. In combining disparate metals, Alex experiments with both form and metaphor, inviting reflection on how thoughts, creations, and legacies can outlive the very bodies that bore them.
