Unang Sayaw (First Dance) depicts a female figure poised in the middle of a traditional indigenous dance step—caught not in motion, but in stillness, stance, and intent. Forged from bent and arc-welded iron nails, the form holds a quiet solidity, reflecting both the strength of the subject and the resilience of cultural memory.
As Alex’s first metal sculpture created during her apprenticeship, the piece carries the raw imprint of learning—where material resistance meets the artist’s earliest exploration of form, presence, and the body in space.
